The HobbyZone® Carbon Cub S 2 1.3 m Cleetus McFarland Special Edition combines the popular Carbon Cub S 2 with the iconic design of the original CubCrafters Carbon Cub by Cleetus McFarland. McFarland, a well-known YouTuber, released one of his first videos in 2009, in which he flew a HobbyZone Super Cub with floats. Since then, he has purchased numerous HobbyZone Carbon Cub models for himself and others!
Equipped with Horizon Hobby's exclusive and innovative Smart technology, this detailed model allows almost anyone to learn to fly. The durable EPO fuselage is equipped with an efficient brushless motor, a telemetry-capable speed controller and a factory-installed flight controller, receiver and servos. The taildragger landing gear with oversized "e;Tundra" e;tires and steerable tail wheel allows take-offs and landings on a wide variety of surfaces - from asphalt to grass and gravel. Alternatively, optional floats (sold separately) can be fitted to take off and land on water.

The HobbyZone® Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m Cleetus McFarland Special Edition is based on the best-selling Carbon Cub S 2 model and is inspired by Cleetus McFarland's original full-size CubCrafters Carbon Cub. McFarland, an American YouTuber, showed how he flies a HobbyZone Super Cub on floats in one of his first videos in 2009. Since then, he has bought more Carbon Cub 1.3m models for himself, his family and friends than anyone else! This Special Edition is equipped with exclusive SAFE® (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology that prevents over-control, loss of orientation and crashes, so almost anyone can learn to fly. With the flight modes "e;Beginner "e;, "e;Advanced "e; and "e;Professional "e;, you can select the desired level of stability and control at the flick of a switch. In each mode, you can immediately return to a stable flight at the touch of a button using the panic function. The oversized "e;Tundra "e; tires enable take-offs and landings on various surfaces such as dense grass, gravel paths, unpaved trails or smooth asphalt. Alternatively, you can install optional floats to fly from the water - further increasing the versatility and application possibilities of this model.
The Carbon Cub S 2 is equipped with a 30-amp telemetry-capable speed controller that transmits real-time data such as motor speed, amperage, battery voltage and more to compatible Spektrum™ AirWare™ radio controls. In addition, the DXS remote control of the RTF Basic version displays the approximate battery status via several LEDs. You can also easily upgrade to SAFE Plus GPS technology, which offers functions such as AutoLand and Virtual Fence. With the optional Landing Assist Sensor (LAS), which automatically ensures smoother landings, flying and landing is easier than ever before!
The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) Basic version includes everything you need to fly - except the battery and charger. This makes it the perfect choice for beginners and experienced pilots who value convenience and value for money. You can use a practical and cost-saving Spektrum Powerstage bundle or a separate battery and charger of your choice. A Bind-N-Fly (BNF) Basic version is also available for pilots who want to use their favorite Spektrum transmitter and existing batteries and chargers. Both versions feature a powerful and efficient brushless motor that includes a telemetry-capable speed controller, flight controller, receiver and servos - all factory-installed in a rugged EPO frame that is quick and easy to assemble without glue or special tools.
The RTF Basic version also includes a full version of the RealFlight Trainer Edition RC flight simulator that runs on a variety of PCs - from affordable laptops to gaming desktops running Windows® 10 or 11. This simulator features many of Horizon Hobby's most popular trainer airplanes and helicopters, including the Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m, as well as built-in Virtual Flight Instructor lessons. In addition, you can unlock nearly two dozen "e;Next Step" e;airplanes and variants, as well as four airfields, after flying the trainer models for just 2-4 hours. This Ready-To-Fly (RTF) Basic version includes Spektrum™ DXS controller/remote control with industry-leading DSMX® 2.4GHz technology and everything you need to fly except a rechargeable lithium polymer (LiPo) battery and aircraft charger. The convenient and cost-saving Spektrum™ Powerstage Bundle (SPMXPSA200) includes a compatible 3S 2200mAh Smart G2 LiPo battery and an S120 USB-C Smart charger that can be used with a variety of USB power sources. Alternatively, you can use a separate 3S 1300-2200mAh battery and charger of your choice!

Telemetry capable
The Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m Cleetus McFarland Special Edition is equipped with smart telemetry functions that transmit real-time telemetry data from the drive system to compatible remote controls. This includes the approximate remaining battery capacity, which is displayed via several LEDs and acoustic warning signals from the DXS transmitter (included with the RTF Basic version). In addition, the electronic speed controller provides data such as motor speed, current, total battery voltage and more to Spektrum AirWare™-enabled radio controls (including DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/G3 and 8 G2, DX9, NX6, 8 and 10, iX12, iX20 and more), all while in flight.

Robust design
The construction from high-quality EPO material ensures a lightweight yet robust airframe that can easily withstand the demands of daily flight operations without being damaged. However, should a part of the airframe or a component be damaged that cannot be repaired with standard adhesives or tapes, a wide range of spare parts is available.

Simple assembly
The Carbon Cub S 2 1.3 m Cleetus McFarland Special Edition is delivered largely pre-assembled - the drive system, servos, flight controller and receiver are already installed. All you have to do is complete a few simple assembly steps - without any glue or special tools. You'll be ready to fly faster than it takes to charge your battery!

Versatile suspension options
Dense grass, gravel paths and dirt tracks - with this model you can easily take off from many surfaces that would be insurmountable for most models of this size. The robust undercarriage with oversized tires absorbs bumps on rough terrain and provides sufficient ground clearance for the propeller. With the optional float set (HBZ7390, sold separately) and the included mounting material, you can convert your model in just a few minutes and launch it from lakes or ponds.

Optional flaps
Functional flaps improve control at low speeds and enable shorter take-offs and landings. For this function you need a remote control with at least 7 channels, a flap servo and a servo extension (all sold separately).

RealFlight included
RealFlight® is the world's leading RC flight simulator! It is the perfect tool for anyone who wants to learn to fly remote-controlled models. With 8 different trainer models - including 2 helicopters from Blade® and 6 of the most popular airplanes from HobbyZone® and E-flite® - plus Virtual Flight Instructor lessons designed specifically for beginners, the RealFlight Trainer Edition has everything you need to learn to fly models. Panic Mode
If you lose control of the aircraft in Beginner or Advanced mode, simply press the Panic Recovery button or switch to Beginner mode and release the sticks. SAFE technology automatically returns the aircraft to a stable, level flight attitude.

Optional Landing Assist Sensor for smoother landings
The Spektrum Landing Assist Sensor (LAS) is easy to install and provides automatic "e;flare" e;control to help inexperienced pilots make smooth landings. It enables touchdowns with no or minimal bounce. The sensor works on many surfaces and provides optimal performance when flying over or landing on grass.

With the quick and easy installation of the optional Spektrum GPS module, you can add advanced autonomous control features that make learning to fly even easier. With SAFE Plus you get:

AutoLand (automatic landing)
The advanced AutoLand feature is easily activated at the touch of a button and brings the aircraft into a stabilized approach to land autonomously near the GPS takeoff point. You can even make slight directional adjustments to avoid obstacles or correct the approach, while the system takes care of the rest and performs a safe landing. As you gain experience and confidence, you can gradually take over more control functions yourself until you can eventually land without the assistance of the automated system.

Holding pattern
This exclusive SAFE Plus function allows you to "e;pause "e; the flight by placing the aircraft in a GPS-supported holding pattern. With a quick press of a button, you activate the system and the aircraft automatically returns to a position above the GPS starting point, where it flies in circles until you cancel the command with another press of a button. This function is ideal for safely handing over control to a friend or restoring your view of the model if you lose sight of it.

Virtual fence
It's easy for a model airplane to fly too far away, but with Virtual Fence technology you no longer have to worry about that. It creates an invisible boundary that the aircraft cannot cross. As soon as the plane reaches this boundary, it automatically turns around and flies back to the GPS take-off point. It then "e;wiggles "e; its wings to signal that you are back in control.

Learn to fly with SAFE® technology!
If this is your first model airplane, Horizon Hobby's exclusive SAFE (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology helps prevent over-control and crashes. At the same time, it offers multiple flight modes that give you more control and options as your skills increase:

Beginner mode
In this flight mode, the aircraft has pitch and roll angle limits to prevent over-control that could lead to disorientation and crashes. As soon as you release the control sticks, the aircraft automatically returns to a stable, level flight position. This allows you to fly in a relaxed manner and concentrate on simply steering the aircraft through the sky. This mode also makes take-off and landing much easier.

Advanced mode
This flight mode offers you more freedom for pitch and roll movements, but prevents over-control. The aircraft does not automatically return to a level flight attitude. This allows you to fly tighter turns and climb or descend faster as you develop your skills.

Professional mode
In Experienced mode, there are no limits on pitch or roll angles, so you have full control! You can even fly upside down and perform impressive aerobatic maneuvers such as loops, rolls and much more.
