US Navy pilots flew the aircraft extensively under the designation SNJ, and hundreds of AT-6s are still in service today, far beyond their original role as trainers.
The E-flite SNJ-5/AT-6 Texan 1.5m is a rare tribute to this often overlooked fighter. It is equipped with an upgraded power system that is compatible with both 3S and 4S batteries, including a Spektrum Avian 70A Smart Lite ESC. The BNF Basic version also includes a telemetry-enabled Smart AR631+ receiver with improved AS3X® technology and optional SAFE® Select technology, making it even easier for pilots of all experience levels to fly and enjoy this model!

E-flite has redesigned and improved the SNJ-5/AT-6 1.5m to make it the best performing and easiest to fly scale replica of the Texan! The airframe is factory-painted in an iconic design based on the SNJ-5 "e;101 "e; - an aircraft still flown by the High Sky Wing, a unit of the Commemorative Air Force in Midland, Texas. The model impresses with numerous scale details, including molded-in panel lines, a replica radial engine, a detailed cockpit with pilot figure and more. Functional flaps and retractable landing gear also ensure a realistic flying experience.
The improved power system is compatible with 3S and 4S batteries (2200-4000mAh) and features a 70A Spektrum Avian Smart Lite ESC. The BNF Basic version is equipped with an AR631+ receiver that provides real-time telemetry data and offers AS3X+ and optional SAFE Select. No glue is required for assembly, so you can get in the air faster - often in less time than it takes to charge a battery.
Thanks to the one-piece wing with servo connectors that connect without tools, the model is easy to assemble and just as easy to disassemble for transportation or storage. Skill level 2 - Some experience required
Skill Level 2 airplanes, like this model, are ideal for RC pilots who already have some experience and are able to assemble, set up and fly similar models. Before attempting to fly the SNJ-5/AT-6 Texan 1.5m BNF Basic Version, you should already have experience with models such as the E-flite P-51D Mustang 1.0m, the T-28 Trojan 1.1m, the Valiant 1.3m, the Commander mPd 1.4m, the Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m or other models in this class.

Smart technology
The SNJ-5/AT-6 Texan is equipped with an exclusive Spektrum Avian 70A Smart Lite Brushless ESC that provides a variety of real-time telemetry data from the propulsion system including motor RPM, current, battery voltage and more. This works in-flight with both Smart and non-Smart batteries via compatible receivers (including the AR631+) and Spektrum AirWare-enabled transmitters (such as DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, DX9, NX6 through NX20, iX12 through iX20 and more). In addition, the receiver is equipped with a Smart Transmitter Model File, which makes it possible to import all settings for NX and iX transmitters during the binding process.

And although the model is compact enough to be transported fully assembled in many vehicles, the one-piece wing can be easily removed thanks to tool-free connections, making storage and transportation even more convenient.
