Carbon Cub 15cc ARF
The extremely popular Hangar 9® Carbon Cub 15cc has been the best-selling wooden model of the modern Cub for over a decade! It has now been redesigned to make assembly even easier and faster in both the ARF version and the new, affordable EP PNP version.
The Cub Crafters Carbon Cub is a modernized and advanced version of the classic Super Cub that sets new standards for backcountry aircraft. It is based on the design of the Piper Super Cub but has been fundamentally enhanced using modern materials and computer-aided design. The result is an airframe with fewer components and lower weight, which enables exceptionally short takeoffs and landings in confined spaces while remaining robust enough for demanding operations away from paved airfields. The original Hangar 9® Carbon Cub 15cc enjoyed great popularity thanks to its modern Cub look, its surprising aerobatic capabilities, and its smooth and stable scale flight characteristics. The revised and improved version continues to offer all these features, but is now even easier and quicker to assemble, store, and transport. The lightweight, torsion-resistant, and robust wooden frame is covered with original UltraCote® film. The Carbon Cub is also available in two versions: With the ARF version, you can install the glow, gasoline, or electric powerplant of your choice, as well as the electronics of your choice. The EP-PNP version, on the other hand, reduces both the assembly effort and the cost of additional components. It comes equipped with six factory-installed Spektrum servos, a 6S-compatible Avian motor, and a Smart ESC.
The Hangar 9® Carbon Cub 15cc brings the versatility and heritage of the manned CubCrafters aircraft to the model airfield as a model constructed entirely of wood. It combines a modern look with high practicality for everyday use and impressive flight performance. With a wingspan of 2.3 m (90 inches), this large-scale model offers a true giant-scale flying experience while remaining manageable enough for regular use. The two-piece wing now features quick-release tubular struts that can be folded against the wing—in addition, the tubular struts can be stowed inside the fuselage, which significantly simplifies transport and storage. A cover between the wings provides more convenient access to the receiver. Behind the magnetically attached windshield, the components of the power system are also much easier to reach. The landing lights are already factory-installed. The scale-accurate, spring-loaded landing gear has also been equipped with more visually appealing wheels. For takeoffs and landings on water, the Carbon Cub can be equipped with the optionally available 1:5 scale wooden float set. Thanks to the low wing loading and functional landing flaps, impressively short takeoffs and landings are possible. With the landing flaps retracted, the Carbon Cub excels in both scale flying and sport model flying, and also offers outstanding aerobatic capabilities.
The ARF version is delivered largely pre-assembled from the factory. The bolt-on tail units reduce assembly effort and save valuable time during setup. You can install a 15-cc gasoline engine, a comparable glow plug engine, or a suitable electric powerplant, as well as the electronic components of your choice. The EP-PNP version reduces assembly time even further, as no adhesive is required for assembly. It comes equipped with six factory-installed digital Spektrum A6380 servos with metal gears, a 6S-compatible Avian 5065-450Kv outrunner motor, and a 100-A Smart ESC. When paired with compatible receivers and Spektrum transmitters featuring AirWare, the ESC can transmit various telemetry data from the power system. This works with both Smart and conventional batteries.

Skill Level 4 - Pilots with extensive experience
Level 4 aircraft, such as this model, are suitable for more experienced RC pilots who already have the skills to assemble, set up, and fly similar models. This ARF (Almost Ready to Fly) version requires more experience and skill during assembly than the EP PNP (Plug-N-Play) version, as you’ll need to select and install a suitable power system and electronics yourself. You should already have experience and the necessary skills working with models such as the E-flite Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m, Turbo Timber SWS 2.0m, Carbon-Z Cessna 150T 2.1m, Carbon-Z Cub SS 2.1m, J-3 Cub 10cc, or other models in this class before attempting to fly the Carbon Cub 15cc ARF version.
Almost-Ready-To-Fly Flexibility
This Almost-Ready-To-Fly (ARF) version comes largely pre-assembled and features removable tail surfaces, saving you a lot of time and effort. It’s also ready for the installation of a 15cc gasoline engine, a comparable glow plug engine, or a suitable electric powerplant, as well as the electronics of your choice.
Wooden Frame
The airframe, made of balsa and plywood, is lightweight yet stable and robust. Best of all, it comes largely pre-assembled and is covered with high-quality UltraCote film. The EP PNP version also includes durable, factory-installed Spektrum A6380 digital servos with metal gears. Should any parts of the fuselage or other components sustain damage that cannot be repaired, a comprehensive selection of replacement parts is readily available.
Convenience Features
The large, top-mounted, magnetically secured windshield cover provides easy access to the battery for electric powertrains, as well as to the main fuel tank and other components for gasoline or glow plug engines. In addition, there is a second maintenance hatch on the top of the fuselage, between the two-piece wings, which can be secured quickly and easily with knurled screws.
Landing Gear Options
Both versions are equipped with a shock-absorbing scale landing gear that features wheels for an improved look. Alternatively, you can install the optional 1/5-scale float set (HAN6030; sold separately) to fly on large ponds and lakes!
