The Royal Aircraft Factory (RAF) SE5 was once called the "Spitfire of the First World War" and was considered by many pilots to be the best British single-seater of its time. It was instrumental in regaining and maintaining Allied air superiority in mid-1917. It is one of the most famous aircraft of the era and over 5000 examples were produced by up to six manufacturers at the time. Inspired by the original ParkZone model, the E-flite® SE5a 900 mm has a completely new design with more faithful details and modern features and technologies to provide an unparalleled flying experience with impressive flight characteristics. The model can be assembled and plugged together in a very short time and is small enough to be easily stored and transported without disassembly - so the model can also be flown in large parks, on sports fields and of course model airfields. The BNF Basic version is equipped with the improved AS3X+ technology, which compensates for the effects of wind and turbulence better than ever before. Flying can also be simplified with the optional SAFE® Select technology! Both model versions include Spektrum™ digital servos with metal gears, a 45A Smart Lite ESC and a 3S and 4S compatible motor.

The SE5 is one of the most legendary fighter planes of the First World War, but is rarely reproduced as a model airplane. The E-flite® SE5a 900mm is a practical sized replica that offers unsurpassed scale detail, modern build comfort and truly unexpectedly impressive flight performance! It can be flown slow and true to scale with simple aerobatic maneuvers - and as you increase the control surface deflections, the model becomes surprisingly aerobatic, right up to aggressive torn rolls, "e;pop-tops "e; and more. This makes it more fun to fly for intermediate to experienced pilots than any other SE5 model!
It has plenty of scale detailing, including implied rib panels, radiator and exhaust details, a machine gun and pilot figure with scarf, and optional implied bracing. Functional features include large wheels and a hidden steerable tail wheel as well as wings with wing struts that can be screwed and snapped into place for easy assembly and disassembly. Nevertheless, the model is so large that it can be easily stored and transported without disassembly and can therefore be easily flown in large parks, on sports fields and model airfields. The factory-installed digital servos with metal gears provide precise and reliable control at any flying speed. The power system includes a Spektrum™ outrunner motor and an Avian 45A Smart Lite ESC that is compatible with popular 3S and 4S 2200-3200 mAh batteries. The BNF Basic version also features a factory-installed Spektrum AR631+ receiver with exclusive and enhanced AS3X+ technology and optional SAFE® Select. In addition, both versions are factory-painted in the classic Royal Flying Corps two-tone camouflage scheme with the typical roundels.

Experience level 3 - experience required
Experience Level 3 aircraft like this are for RC pilots who already have more experience and the skills to build, program and fly similar class models. This PNP model requires more experience to assemble and fly than the BNF Basic version because a receiver must be installed that is not yet pre-programmed with AS3X+ and SAFE Select. Before attempting to fly the SE5a 900mm PNP version, you should have the necessary experience to fly models such as the T-28 Trojan 1.1m, Valiant 1.2m, Commander mPd 1.4m, Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m, or similar class models.

Plug-N-Play® version
The Plug-N-Play (PNP) version comes with a factory-installed drive system and servos ready to connect to the compatible receiver of your choice (sold separately) and use with your existing transmitter and battery (also sold separately). Simply install the receiver, complete the final assembly and go fly!

Flexible performance
The factory-installed brushless Spektrum outrunner motor is 3S and 4S compatible and offers a wide range of performance - from scale flying with simple aerobatics in 3S mode to unlimited vertical climb and unexpectedly aggressive aerobatic performance with 4S batteries! The practical, top-mounted and magnetically secured fuselage cover makes it easy to change common and popular 2200-3200 mAh batteries.

Lasting precision
The lightweight yet durable EPO airframe is reinforced with composite for added strength. And the factory-installed digital servos with metal gears provide reliable and precise rudder control at any airspeed, so the model is always right on the stick for both prototypical flying and aggressive aerobatics.

The SE5a is equipped with various scale details, including indicated rib fields, radiator and exhaust details, a machine gun, a pilot figure with scarf and optional indicated bracing.

Simple assembly
No glue or special tools are required for final assembly, so you'll have the SE5a 900mm ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge the flight battery! And although the model is large enough to fit fully assembled in almost any vehicle, you can remove the one-piece wings for safe storage and transportation. With just a few mounting screws and wing struts that easily snap in and out, you can assemble or disassemble the wings in just a few minutes.
