The HobbyZone® Champ was the world's first ultra-micro trainer airplane, successfully teaching hundreds of thousands to fly! In 2010, the Champ revolutionized the market by making RC aircraft more affordable, practical and accessible to a wider audience. Weighing less than 60 grams, it can fly almost anywhere outdoors - be it in the garden, in the park, on sports fields or beyond in calm conditions - and even indoors, for example over a basketball court. Impressive flight stability thanks to hollow airfoil V-shaped wings, it's flyable by almost anyone - especially now that it's equipped with exclusive Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope (SAFE) technology that prevents oversteer, loss of orientation and crashes.
This Special Edition celebrates the 15th anniversary of the Champ, the 25th anniversary of HobbyZone and the 40th anniversary of Horizon Hobby! It's available in two versions: a convenient RTF (Ready-To-Fly) version with a Spektrum transmitter, battery and charger - all in one box - and a BNF (Bind-N-Fly®) Basic version that allows you to use a compatible Spektrum DSMX/DSM2 transmitter, battery and charger of your choice.

The updated and improved HobbyZone® Champ Anniversary Special Edition is now equipped with Horizon Hobby's exclusive and innovative SAFE (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology. This technology helps prevent over-control, loss of orientation and crashes so that almost anyone can successfully learn to fly. With the "e;Beginner "e; and "e;Experienced "e; modes, you can select the stability and control you need or want to try out at the touch of a button. This makes the Champ an even better version of the trainer that many pilots have already learned to fly with! It's also equipped with proven Spektrum 2.4GHz DSMX technology - the same technology that experienced RC pilots around the world trust to control some of the biggest and most expensive airplanes.
And the fun doesn't stop once you've learned to fly! The Champ's powerful electric motor ensures long flight times and provides enough speed and power to perform basic aerobatic maneuvers such as loops, stall turns and more. This makes the Champ a model that even experienced pilots will appreciate and enjoy flying, and that they can use to teach others how to fly.
The Champ is delivered 100% ready-to-fly and completely pre-assembled - no lengthy assembly or setup required. The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) version includes everything you need to fly and is the perfect choice for beginners and experienced pilots looking for maximum convenience and value for money. From the Spektrum MLP4DSM 2.4GHz controller/transmitter and AA batteries for it, to the 1S 150mAh rechargeable LiPo (Lithium Polymer) battery and a handy USB charger that can be used with various USB power sources - you don't need to buy or install anything extra! For experienced pilots who want to use their own Spektrum DSMX/DSM2-capable transmitter, batteries and charger, a Bind-N-Fly (BNF) Basic version is also available.
Both versions are made from advanced EPS material that allows for a lightweight yet durable airframe that is also easy to repair with odorless/foam-safe CA glue, Foam 2 Foam, epoxy and other foam-friendly adhesives and tape. Should you damage airframe parts or components that cannot be repaired, a full line of replacement parts is available. Replacement batteries are also available, including a more powerful Spektrum 1S 210mAh battery (SPMX2101S50) that provides more power and longer flight times. Optional 4-port (SPMXC1040) and 6-port (SPMXC1060) chargers are also available.

Robust design
The construction of high-quality EPS material ensures a lightweight yet stable airframe. The model is also easy to repair with odorless, foam-safe CA glue, Foam 2 Foam, epoxy resin or other foam-friendly adhesives and tape. If a part of the frame or a component is damaged and cannot be repaired, a comprehensive selection of spare parts is available.

Learn to fly successfully with SAFE® technology
If this is your first RC airplane, the revolutionary SAFE® (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology, developed exclusively by Horizon Hobby, ensures that over-control and crashes are avoided. It also offers multiple flight modes that give you more control and features at the flick of a switch or push of a button as you develop your flying skills:

"e;Beginner "e; mode
In this flight mode, the aircraft has pitch (up/down) and bank (left/right) limits to prevent oversteer and help avoid loss of orientation and crashes. As soon as you let go of the control sticks, the aircraft automatically returns to a stable, level flight position. This allows you to fly in a relaxed manner and concentrate fully on steering the plane through the sky. The best thing about it: take-off is child's play - just give it "e;full throttle? and let the plane take off from a suitable surface or get it into the air with a short hand launch. Landing is also uncomplicated: Reduce the throttle and let the plane glide gently by itself.

"e;Experienced "e; mode
This flight mode has no limits on pitch or roll angles, so you retain full control! You can even perform basic aerobatic maneuvers such as loops, stall turns and more.
