Ideal for collectors, history buffs and advanced modelers, the StuG III G kit offers a distinctive building experience that highlights the tactical innovations of World War II. Whether for training purposes, as a display piece or for wargames, this WWII German StuG III model is an impressive representation of wartime ingenuity.
A brief history of the StuG III tank destroyer
Although the StuG III was often underestimated by Allied intelligence during the Second World War, it proved to be the most successful German armored fighting vehicle of the conflict. It was built on a simplified Panzer III chassis with clean and interchangeable parts, making it easy to repair. The turret was replaced by a fixed casemate and a powerful 7.5 cm StuK 40 L/48 gun was mounted, which could destroy almost all Allied tanks except the Soviet Panzer IS and the Jumbo Sherman. Thanks to its low profile, firepower, low cost and standardized production, the StuG III evolved from an infantry support vehicle to a formidable tank destroyer in various theaters of war, including North Africa, Europe and Russia. The Ausf. G was the last and most important variant, of which over 8,400 were produced between December 1942 and April 1945. With over 30,000 victories won, it was considered by many to be the No. 1 tank destroyer in military history.
