A brief history of the M4A3E8 Sherman tank

The M4A3E8 Sherman, commonly known as the "Easy Eight", is a famous variant of the M4 Sherman tank. It had a redesigned turret with a more powerful 76 mm M1 main gun, 47 degree inclined frontal armor and fully armored sides.

From August 1944, the M4A3 model was the first to be produced with the horizontal coil spring suspension (HVSS) with wider tracks for weight distribution. Due to the smooth handling of the HVSS, the M4A3 was given the nickname "Easy Eight", which goes back to the experimental designation "E8". A total of 4542 units were produced between March 1944 and April 1945.

In the later stages of the Second World War, it played an important role in the service of the American and Allied forces. It continued to be used in conflicts around the world and left a lasting impression in the history of armored warfare as a versatile and extremely effective medium tank.
